Based at the former Aventis (Rhone-Poulenc) Global Centre of Excellence, AgroChemex is, according to many of our clients, in a unique position among agricultural contract research organisations owing to the world-class facilities available on-site. Few, if any, European independent contract research organisations can offer the range of capabilities available at AgroChemex, from our environmental fate facilities to computer controlled growth rooms, from the modern glasshouse and laboratory complex to the established orchards and arable research farm. Our GLP certificate was issued in spring 2000 and recently re-issued in August 2014 , as was our ORETO recognition.
At AgroChemex Environmental we have the capability and expertise to conduct GLP ecotoxicology testing with a variety of aquatic and terrestrial species.
AgroChemex Environmental boasts a newly installed, purpose built laboratory facility and offices at the Aldhams Farm Research Site in Lawford, Essex. The facility has been designated by the UK Home Office for the conduct of regulated procedures since 2012.
The facility combines environmentally controlled laboratories, capable of meeting the OECD requirements for temperature, photoperiod and light levels; with analytical equipment to support the tests. AgroChemex was established in 2000 at the former Aventis (Rhone-Poulenc) facility based in Manningtree, Essex. The founder of Agrochemex, Alan Gamblin, has worked within the industry for over 30 years, initially with May and Baker and then Rhone-Poulenc. Working within the herbicide and fungicide field trials team.
Alan gained worldwide experience as the Herbicide evaluation co-ordinator for Rhone-Poulenc and was involved in the patents for Diflufenican and Isoxaflutol.
In June 2000 AgroChemex was formed with the aim and direction to make it one of the leading research and development facilities in Europe offering unique, world class facilities and an unparalleled quality.
In 2005 AgroChemex expanded to include AgroChemex International, offering specialist European studies. The International team is headed by Andrew Wilson, who offers a vast experience and knowledge from working for over 20 years throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Andrew has a diverse set of skills having worked in agrochemicals, contract research and field trials meaning that AgroChemex International has an unrivalled expertise in the studies we perform.
AgroChemex Environmental was formed with Alan’s daughter Clare Gamblin in the year 2012. A purpose built facility and laboratories were erected at AgroChemex’s Manningtree facility to facilitate the incorporation of ecotoxicology studies. With Clare’s years of experience in analytical chemistry, skills and passion AgroChemex Environmental is now able to offer both aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicology to a very high quality and standard.
